Future Goals
Upon graduation, I plan to find employment working with special student populations. My current work as a graduate assistant for both the Asian Pacific American Student Services department and the Office for Residential Education has led me to want to work in a cultural or advocacy center. Advising first-year minority popluations would help me further my goals and experiences and challenge me to learn more about a diverse population of students.
Within the next five to ten years, I plan to pursue a doctorate. I want to have the opportunity create knowledge and to teach others. Specifically, I want to expand the current literature on Asian American college student development. Understating how historical and cultural backgrounds influence the identity development of certain Asian American ethnic groups can help universities better serve their populations. In the end, I want to serve in a role that can work to create guidelines to help the development of college students.
